Travel to Mexico and Swine Flu

Many insurance companies are now declining to quote for travel to Mexico due to the current swine flu outbreak. Now the UK Foreign Office has formally advised against all non-essential travel to Mexico if you have booked a trip there insurance companies will normally pay out for cancellation and curtailment as long as you had bought insurance already. If you find yourself in this situation in the first instance speak to your travel agent then speak to your insurance company.

Summer holidays

With the recession biting deeper more and more people are looking to cut costs and one of the logical ways is to cut back on travel expenses. This can be either by not taking a main holiday this year, having a holiday but keeping it in this country or just cutting back on the general cost of a holiday.

One of the worst cost cutting measures is to not take travel insurance since it costs from less than £5 but can cover you for many holiday eventualities such as curtailment, repatriation in the event of an injury (commercial airlines may not let you travel if you have sustained significant trauma i.e. broken bones), cover for lost or damaged cases and sporting equipment and most significantly the medical expenses which can run into many thousands of pounds.

What travel insurance does not cover you for, however, is running out of spending money while on holiday so make sure you budget properly.

Summer travel insurance offers

With Easter now behind us, many people are looking to their summer holidays so many insurance companies will be bringing out summer offers so YourHolidayInsurance will be kept updated with new offers as they come up.

Online comparison sites / Aggregators

Online comparison sites are fairly common these days with the like of Moneysupermarket and Confused which claim to get you the cheapest price and save you money - however the interesting thing that was found in the 2007 Defacto report into Car Insurance was that if you enter the same information on different Aggregator sites the same insurers will come back with prices that differ by nearly 50% from each other.

This just goes to show that if you are looking for the best deal on insurance then you should go to the insurance companies direct. Your Holiday Insurance does not give you the prices from lots of insurers when you enter information - what it does is give you the information you need to get your own quotes.
